Comunity Outreach - March 2013

The site of the Form One Community Outreach excursion
in March was at the Mental Rehabilitation of Youth (Mehayo), a center for people of all ages with physical and mental disabilities.
The Form One girls and accompanying SEGA faculty spent their day at Mehayo cleaning, gardening, painting, and, best of all,
playing with the kids. They also learned about Mehayo’s work and the importance of looking after everyone in society,
no matter what their capacity. Everyone on both sides was thrilled with the visit and our girls came away with a greater awareness
that everyone in life has their own particular struggles, and of the satisfaction of helping others.

End of School Year Celebration - December 2012
December 8th marked Sega’s end
of school year celebration. In Tanzania, the academic school year runs from January to December. In late November, Form 2
girls completed the national assessment exam, a requirement for all second year students in secondary school, and the other
Forms took internal school exams. The girls ended the school year with a wonderful celebration during which they danced,
sang, played drums, and gave speeches. All of the Sega teachers and board members attended and a guest speaker from Aboud,
a local bus company, addressed the crowd. The night was topped off with a celebratory dinner. The laughter, excitement, and
festivities of the day were a memorable experience for all. The girls are now on break until January when they will advance
to the next Form.

Staff-Student Netball Game - March
2013

On Friday, March 15th, the Sega students competed against the Sega
teachers in a highly anticipated netball game. As April, our of Sega's incredible volunteers, wrote: "All were in
high spirits as the STUDENTS whupped the staff 12-8. The teachers didn't all know the rules but it didn't seem to matter too
much and much fun was had by all!" By the looks on the faces of both the girls and the staff above, April's description
was spot on. Despite the outcome (or even knowledge of the rules!), it was a fun and friendly competition for everyone!
